reading log #1/ Martyn pig
The problem started when Martyn Pig saw his very own dad die in front of him, he was the cause of his death. Martyn killed him on accident but he was to afraid to call the police for he was afraid that they would blame him and find him guilty. The only person he trusted to tell was Alexander Freeman the 17 year old girl living next door to him but she was scared as well, now she was involved with this problem. Martyn was getting stressed out until he made the idea to hide the body somewhere where no one would find it in a while. More problems came crawling back to him, his dad had a huge amount of money in his bank account but Dean, Alexandra’s boyfriend blackmailed him. He recorded Martyn saying that he killed his father, Dean wouldn't go to the police if Martyn gave him the large amount of money. This is an external conflict the characters in this story are causing problems to one another. Martyn says that he is going to solve this problem and that he wouldn't let Dean get away with it. “I left clues that will lead back to you so there is no use telling the police.” found in page 180. “If you don't believe me when i say that you could get sent to prison well then that's up to you,” Martyn says in page 180. In the end of this story the police found both his dad and Dean dead with the help of an anonymous phone caller which was Alexandra. Dean was found runned over by a car a few days later after he last talked to Martyn. Martyn was found innocent but Alexandra disappeared with the large amount of money that day. A few years later Alexandra sent a letter to Martyn explaining the reason why she left when he needed her the most but he managed to understand.

In things hoped for The main characters in this story are Gwendolyn but goes by the name “Gwen,” Gwen's Grandfather, and Robert Phillips also known as Bobby. Gwen is a 17 year old girl that loves to play the violin but spends most of her time practicing and not having any fun.Gwen’s grandpa named Lawrence Page was one of the people that raised her but soon went missing. Booby came to new york to practice for trumpet additions at a music school and later met Gwen at a coffee shop. This story is told by Gwen’s point of view and how she’s working hard to get into a great music school to play her violin and every other crazy thing that's happening in her life. Bobby was part of invention in “things not seen,” two years ago and became invisible for most of his life. After Lawrence went missing, he left a tape recorder for Gwen saying that he’ll be fine, she has to promise not tell anyone he's gone and that to live a normal life as possible. One problem had to fall into place Bobby and Gwen found out that there is another invisible man in new York that was following them around. His name was William, he wanted to know how to turn back, to be able to be seen again but Bobby didn't trust him so they tried telling the police. Days later they found Lawrence he died and they captured William the invisible man. Gwen is a static character because she started having fun and started valuing every second of her life after that day. In page 304 it says “ i now appreciate the people i have and met during my life.” And also found in page 305 it shows “nothing feels the same anymore a lot has changed and now i went to live back with my family.” This was the story of Gwen “ things hoped for.”

In novel “the fire within” by Chris d'Lacey the main characters are David Rain, Elizabeth Pennykettle, and Lucy Pennykettle. David a 20-year-old man who loves writing stories was Elizabeth's ten-dent and attended at a school called Scrubbley college. Elisabeth the landlady,known as Liz, had a passion for making clay dragons. Lucy Liz’s daughter an 11-year-old girl with a bold heart, loved every single living thing and had a strong belief for dragons. The day that David first moved in he always thought that Liz’s clay dragons were odd including the one she gave to him called Gadzooks. Gadzooks a green colored dragon with a sketchbook in his hand and a pencil wrapped around his tail, helped David write his stories. Each time David didn’t have an answer to one of his questions he would simply close his eyes and that little clay dragon that he once thought was weird would write one word on his sketchbook. Later on Lucy found out that her favorite squirrel named Conker went missing so her and David tried to look for him each day but there was no luck. Lucky’s birthday was coming up so David wrote her a story called “Snigger and the nut beast”,that story predicted the events that would happen to Conkers disappearance. David the static character of this story, was confident and willing to help Lucy even though some thought it was silly. On page 82 it shows “David found another tissue and handed it over to Lucy. "We are going to save him. I've got a plan." Also stated on page 101 “They dismissed us to leave and I raced towards the library where i thought he would be.” David was determined to find out what happened to Conker and wasn’t ready to give up and in the end Conker was found but passed away. Lucy finally finished the book and that event that happened has all been written down in one story.

In this story “fire star” written by Chris D’Lacey the main characters are David Rain, Elizabeth Pennykettle,Lucy Pennykettle and Sophie. David the 20-year-old man that is the ten-dent of Elizabeth knows about the secret in magic clay dragons. Elizabeth the clay maker of dragons has a daughter named Lucy a 11-year-old that has a very strong passion towards dragons. Sophie David's girlfriend works as a veterinarian at an animal care center. David currently went to the Arctic for a research trip based on a book he's writing. There are odd things happening and he noticed that in the book he's writing all the events are coming true almost as if it was a prediction. David is the static character because well he was always the same brave and determined. On page 88 it states,”Nothing will stop me from figuring out how to fix this catastrophe.” Also on page 178 it shows,”if i want to find out what they did to him,i have to go to that horrible place.” David passed opticals that he thought were going to be impossible to pass for him, so he got challenged a lot. He saved everyone from this huge event that was going to kill most people in the Arctic.

In the fiction book,”paper towns”, by John Green, the main characters are Margo and Quentin. Margo a girl with a great imagination, loves mystery and is known as being fearless,met Quentin when she moved to the house right cross the street from him. Quentin wasn't such a daredevil like her,he was more into following the rules,and music. He instantly fell in love with Margo and called her his miracle. Unfortunately the whole problem started when she went missing the day after they both started talking. Margo left clues behind that determined where she had left to, and that was when Quentin had the most craziest idea to go look for her, with some of his friends. The journey was long and they were stopped when it didn't lead to any where. With prom that same day they all left but Quentin decided to stay in hope of finding her. In the end when he found her, it was pointless because his miracle was not Margo but it was his friends.
Reading log #6/fault in our stars
In the fiction book ,”the fault in our stars”, by John Green, the two main characters in this story are Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters. Hazel Grace a 16 year-old girl who doubted a lot but also contained a brave heart has to suffer from lung cancer. Augustus Waters(Gus) a soon to be 17 year-old boy who acts optimistic, loses one of his legs because of a cancerous tumor in the bone. Hazel meets Augustus in one of her support group meetings,they got along just well to the point they fell in love with each other. There was a problem to this love story, Augustus’s health wasn't as good as Hazel's so he soon was going to die. In the beginning Hazel thought that there was no point on doing anything in her life(helpless) but she changed throughout the story because of Augustus’s way of proving that life is worth living for even with cancer, therefore she is a dynamic character. Shown in pages 259-260, Hazel is explaining the joy and happiness he brought to her and how it changed her life forever. This story didn't exactly end up with a happy ending, Augustus did pass away but Hazel understood that Augustus made her stronger and that she had a choose on who or what can hurt her.
